The 6" long, low angle block plane with adjustable throat is especially effective at slicing end grain and soft woods. This plane is ideal for fine-trimming moulding and boards where the end grain is troublesome. It can also true up miters, chamfer sharp edges, smooth milling marks, and clean up glue lines.
The low angle block plane can trim small amounts of wood from the edges of doors to fit them more precisely into cabinets or even entryways. The 9-3/4" long smoothing plane with hardwood handles was designed for taking away small amounts of material where tearout is possible. A smoothing plane is also helpful when trimming troublesome areas that have changes in grain direction or height.
